Star Plus’s new show, Aarambh is expected to go on air from 24 June and will see Karthika Nair and Rajneesh Duggal playing the lead roles in it. Director Goldie Behl has roped in yesteryear actress, Madhoo to play a pivotal role in the show. The Roja actress confirmed the news with Indian Express, “I am excited about the project and cannot start to work on it.”
When the director explained the role to her, Queen Sivagami from the Baahubali franchise was used as reference. “The character isn’t that of Sivagami but would be similar in it’s strength and depth. A powerful queen of a matriarch makes rootless decisions. Her decisions are more about keeping the future of her people in mind and not being rooted in personal emotions and feelings. So when the character was explained to me, they had given Sivagami as a point of reference,” she added.

The actress is yet to start shooting for her part, but is already confident that the audience would like her new avatar. “When one is convinced of the role that you are doing, then the people will believe the role. In real life, I might not want to hurt even a mosquito. However, if I take up a role of playing a villain that I have to be convinced and own it. I think, with this character not only am I convinced but I am also excited,” she said.
Aarambh will mark the actor’s debut on the small screen.
