Alia Bhatt On ‘Dragon’: “Kids Are My Biggest Fans And The Film Is For Them”

Alia Bhatt, who last starred in one of this year’s top grossing films Badrinath Ki Dulhania, has signed a slew of films already. One of them is Dragon with Ranbir Kapoor, a superhero flick which she assures will be a unique concept.

In conversation with DNA India, Alia said that Ayan Mukherjee’s Dragon is more of a fantasy version of your usual action entertainer. Bhatt was also quick to point out that the film wasn’t meant for children alone.

“Not just children but everyone in a family, including mothers and fathers, will relate to the film, which is also very Indian in its roots. There’s no way Dragon won’t be accepted by Indian audiences. Even if there aren’t too many good films made for kids, I have always had a great connect with them. A huge part of my fan following is kids, and this film is totally for them,” she said.

Bhatt also said that she was excited about sharing screenspace with Ranveer Singh for Gully Boy.

“Ranveer is a complete crackpot. I have worked with him in ads, and I think I have an idea about what shooting is going to be like. I’m excited because Gully Boy is an emotional story, and our characters are very interesting, so it will be a unique combination. I have always wanted to work with Zoya (Akhtar), who I think is absolutely fab. This year, I am working with two actors and two directors who I’ve always wanted to work with,” she adds.

Alia recently signed three films and will begin shooting for Meghna Gulzar’s Calling Sehmat shortly. The film is an Indo-Pak drama in which Bhatt plays the role of a Kashmiri woman married to an army officer.
