Pulkit Samrat and Kriti Kharbanda are the new leads in Veerey Ki Wedding, replacing Jimmy Shergill and Diljott. According to a Mid-Day report, the replacement of the lead pair was a last minute effort by the makers to make the film more marketable.
Punjabi actress Diljott was all set to make her Bollywood debut with this film, directed by Ashu Trikha. Reportedly, Samrat and Kharbanda were roped in a few days before the shoot was scheduled to end.
Trikha told the outlet, “We added Pulkit and Kriti to our star cast and have been shooting with them in New Delhi. We did not make an announcement as we have been tied up with the shoot.”

While Jimmy Shergill is still a part of the project, he will not play the lead actor. Instead of Diljott, he will be paired opposite Payal Rajput, best known for her roles on TV.
A romantic-drama, the film’s title is similar to that of Hindi film Veere Di Wedding starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Sonam Kapoor. While that film had a bigger star cast, Trikha’s film had acquired the copyright and trademark rights to use the title first and had it registered with the Indian Film and TV Producers Council.
