Silverscreen goes to the Pagadai Pagadai audio launch.
Pagadai Pagadai is about deception…and dice, of course. A young man’s life changes dramatically because of his obsession with money; and the film follows his efforts to start afresh. Former child artiste Dilip Kumar plays the lead role. Quite popular in his teens, Dilip starred in many hit Telugu movies, sharing screen-space with the likes of Silk Smitha and actor Krishna among others. At the audio launch yesterday, a short video about Dilip’s origins were screened – cataloging his life in the Telugu film industry.
Dilip though, was nowhere to be seen. And it was only much later that we spotted the young star at the entrance, welcoming everyone with a huge smile. “People are attending the audio launch of my first movie. This is the least I can do,” he beamed. Divya Singh, who plays the love interest of Dilip in the movie said she is “indebted” to (comedian) Singamuthu for the expert coaching and support. “Singamuthu sir was very helpful and gave me many pointers on comic timing. Kovai Sarala ma’m has done a fabulous job in the movie and she rocks in every scene.” In a striking gold and red saree, Divya won over the crowd. Her resemblance to actress Jothika, who was seen in director Sasi Shanker’s previous movie Perazhagan, was remarked upon by everyone. The director, though, wasn’t able to attend the launch; having called in sick earlier.
A short while later, actress Richu Singh, sister of Divya, danced to the tunes of Bacardiya Bacardiya..Selai Kattina Bacardiya from the movie. Reportedly, Richu has a very important role in the movie and has given a ‘brilliant performance’. A few songs from the movie were also screened along with the trailer.

The music of Pagadai Pagadai is courtesy Ramji and AC John Peter who started working on the OST last year. “We completed the music in two months flat. We have to thank our producers for the extraordinary help. And also for giving us a lot of space. We want to let our music do the talking,” they said. The duo also exhibited their singing skills by performing a fast-paced number from the movie.
Unfortunately though, not much could be heard by the audience as the mic was turned off.
And in due course, the audio of Pagadai Pagadai was launched by actor Singamuthu and Kovai Sarala.
