Madhur Bhandarkar’s Indu Sarkar was screened for the CBFC recently. The board reportedly asked for 14 cuts to be made, in order to certify the film for screening.
Bhandarkar took to Twitter to say that he was ‘appalled’ at the CBFC’s demands.
Just got out of #InduSarkar film censor screening.Am appalled at the 14 cuts suggested by the committee. Will go to the revising committee.

The film is set in the backdrop of the emergency and is perceived to be damaging to the memory of late Indira Gandhi and Sanjay Gandhi. As a consequence, senior Congress leaders have spoken out against the film, and this has proved to be controversial. Sanjay Nirupam recently asked for a special screening of the film, before it went to the Censors. His demands were rejected by both Madhur Bhandarkar and CBFC chief Pahlaj Nihalani.
