Flag Incident: Akshay Kumar Clarifies He Was Trying To Hold It The Correct Way

“I was unfurling the flag at that time and it was upside down. I was trying to steady it and hold it right but someone from behind clicked the photo… If you watch it on television, you will see that I am holding it right. Still, if I have hurt someone’s sentiments, I apologise to them,” he said.

Early this week, following criticism on social media over the incident, Akshay Kumar had apologised for violating the code of conduct that applies to the Indian flag. The actor was in London as part of the Toilet – Ek Prem Katha promotions, and went to Lord’s to cheer the Women In Blue playing the finals against England in the ICC Women’s World Cup Cricket. He waved the Tricolor at the team, and posted the photo on Twitter, but deleted it afterwards.

Akshay later tweeted:

Toilet: Ek Prem Katha starring Akshay, Bhumi Pednekar and Anupam Kher, is scheduled to release on August 11.
