The Film Employees Federation of South India (FEFSI)’s strike has ended, but president RK Selvamani says that members will only work with those producers who agree to the FEFSI’s “general conditions”.
FEFSI members met this morning at a general body meeting and decided that they would only work with selected producers.
Speaking to Silverscreen, FEFSI General Secretary Angamuthu Shanmugam said, “If the issue is sorted out in tomorrow’s meeting, well and good. But, if the difference of opinion continues, we will work only where our conditions apply. We will work with the producers give us the old wages, not the revised one. We will also work with those producers who agree to take employees from all the 23 unions. Our members will work only with producers who agree to these terms.”

He said the strike had been called off for several reasons. He said, “There are producers who are member of the federation. They are our brothers. We don’t want to hinder our brothers’ production. Also, Labour commission officials, Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, all of them wanted us to call off the strike and initiate talks. And Vishal, who was reluctant to attend any negotiation meetings, has agreed for talks on Monday. Considering all these, strike has been called off.”
Initially, when issue began, TFPC president Vishal had said, “We will work with FEFSI as well as others.” Sources say that the actor is unlikely to change his stance.
