Pesci plays Vincent Gambini, a loudmouth New York attorney who is called on to defend his cousin in a murder case in Alabama. The inexperienced Gambini tries his best to navigate a way out for himself and his cousin in the case, supported by Tomei’s Mona Lisa Vito. The sequel attempts to take the lives of Pesci and Tomei’s characters forward in a book series.

According to the New York Post, Kelter first reached out to the film’s screenwriter Dale Launer merely as a fan of the film. They hit it off, and then, Kelter obtained the rights and absolution from Launer and the film’s producer 20th Century Fox to do a book based on the film.

In the book update, Vinny is working on a new case in his hometown, Brooklyn. He faces domestic and financial problems and also has to help a woman accused of killing her boyfriend. To complicate matters more, the victim is the brother of NY City’s Deputy Mayor.
