Eight people were killed on Tuesday at Lower Manhattan by a terrorist in a rental truck who sped for nearly a mile down a popular, bike-only path in the shadow of the World Trade Center.
A New York Post states that Sayfullo Saipov, a 29-year-old immigrant from Uzbekistan, was shot by a cop after getting out of his car at Chambers and West streets with two guns.
So far, eight people have died and at least 11 have been hospitalised with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to the New York Fire Department. The truck driver started his rampage near Houston Street, tearing down approximately 20 city blocks on a bike path along the Hudson River popular with cyclists and runners. The suspect struck “several” pedestrians and cyclists, NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill told reporters at the press conference.
Priyanka Chopra, who shifts between New York and India, was barely five blocks away from where the attack took place.
