Speaking to CNN News, the complainant, Muqueet Khan, says that the translation of the song is about Prophet Mohammat. “I tried to sing the song and when I checked the translation, it was about Prophet Mohammad. A girl and boy are romancing but linking background with religious sentiments,” he says, thus filing a complaint at Falaknuma Police station in Hyderabad.
The director of the film, Omar Lulu, has clarified that the lyrics are not meant to hurt anybody’s sentiments. The song is originally written by PMA Jabbar, who has been writing Mappilapattu (folks songs sung by the Muslim community of Kerala) from the age of 16.
In an interview to Malayalam daily Madhyamam, the lyricist confirms that he has written more than 500 Mappilapattu songs but his most popular work his Manika Malayara Poovi. He recently wrote 12 Mappilapattu songs and released it as an album.
Oru Adaar Love features mostly newcomers and is produced by Ousepachan Vaalakuzhy under the banner of Ousepachan Movie House. On February 9, the makers had released the song ‘Manikya Malaraya Poovi’, composed by Shaan Rahman and sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan.
