Gautami Tadimalla took to her blog on Saturday to state that she is in no way associated with Kamal Haasan or his political party. This clarification comes soon after reports surfaced that she still held some business links with her former partner. The two broke up in 2016.

In the blog titled ‘Past is past – there are reasons for it’, Gautami says that she had been stressed ever since those reports surfaced.

“I categorically state that this is completely false and I have had no contact with Mr. Haasan since we formally parted ways in October of 2016. The period since my walking out has been consumed by my efforts to rebuild a stable and secure environment for my daughter and myself. An environment where we could breathe free of the stress and tension of a greatly traumatic situation,” she wrote.

She also said that her dues as costume designers for various projects he undertook are yet to be given to her.

“During the nearly thirteen years of our life together, the work that I did as Costume Designer, was only for films produced by Raajkamal Films International, (RKFI), and for films that Mr. Haasan made for other producers. And this was my primary source of income as my working both in front of and behind the camera in other’s projects was actively discouraged. In addition to this, it grieves me greatly to have to say that as of October, 2016, I had salary dues pending right from earlier films like Dasavataram, Vishwaroopam, etc.”

She further adds that despite repeated attempts, she was still not paid her dues. She also mentions that the only other business engagement she had with Haasan was to have served as Director in a company started in 2010 to launch an online portal for literary content dissemination. Though a certain amount of work was put into this effort for portal development and content generation, she claims that the project did not attain fruition and was dropped. She is yet to receive any remuneration from this association since, she says.

Haasan on February 21 launched his political party Makkal Needhi Maiam in Madura. The actor-turned-politician in his official speech spoke about empowering women and telling men to give women space. “You can’t see everybody as your lover. Not everyone can be the girl of your dreams. So, you have to think about your mother and sister. You also need a lover, I am not saying you don’t. But you have to give her equal space,” he had said.
