The title of the Telugu remake of Bollywood blockbuster Queen, starring Tamannaah Bhatia, is That Is Mahalakshmi, the makers recently announced.
It was to be helmed by the National Award winning film maker Neelakanta. However, in January this year, he walked out of the project citing creative differences and later, it was announced that the film will be directed by Prasanth Varma of Awe! fame.

Prasanth is currently shooting a few important scenes along with his team in Mysuru. The team will head to Greece after wrapping up the Mysuru schedule.
Speaking about the film, Tamannaah said: “It’s an exciting project and I love doing roles that talk about women empowerment. I’m confident we can recreate the magic of the original. At the same time, not make the film look like a frame-to-frame remake.”
The film is being simultaneously remade in Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil and Telugu languages. Titled Butterfly in Kannada, the film has Parul Yadav in the lead. The Tamil version- Paris Paris has Kajal Agarwal playing the lead while Manjima Mohan might be the lead in the Malayalam version.
