AR Murugadoss has wrapped up the shoot of Vijay-starrer Sarkar, which is gearing up for a Deepavali release. Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who plays an important part in the film, took to her social media account and posted a group picture, following the schedule wrap.

Earlier in August, the team headed to Las Vegas to shoot some portions of the film there. Varalaxmi wrapped up her portions for Sandakozhi 2 and was among the stars who left for that schedule.
The team had earlier shot in Chennai (Sun Network offices, Andhra Club Premises and airport) and Kolkata. Made on a lavish budget by Sun Pictures, the film marks Vijay’s third collaboration with AR Murugadoss after Thuppakki and Kaththi.
Pegged to be a political thriller, the film will have a solo release on Deepavali, as two other movies originally slotted for that timeframe – Ajith Kumar’s Viswasam and Suriya’s NGK – have pushed their dates. Ajith’s film will release for Pongal and NGK is yet to announce its release date.

Sarkar stars Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi and Radha Ravi in the lead. Music has been scored by AR Rahman, and Girish Gangadharan of Angamaly Diaries fame has cranked the camera. According to The Times of India, Varalaxmi will essay the part of the Chief Minister’s daughter in the film, while Radharavi is expected to play the antagonist.
Last seen in director KM Sarjun’s Echarikkai – Idhu Manidhargal Nadamaadum Idam, where she plays a dancer who gets abducted, Varalaxmi awaits the release of Maari 2, directed by Balaji Mohan and starring Dhanush and Sai Pallavi in the lead, and N Linguswamy’s Sandakozhi 2 in which she plays a “loud, Madurai girl”.
She also has Muthukumaran’s romcom Kanni Rasi, Manojkumar Natarajan’s female-centric psychological thriller Velvet Nagaram, and Neeya 2, a sequel to the 1979 film Neeya, coming up. And then, there’s Sundar C’s long-delayed action comedy Madha Gaja Raja.
