Mohanlal Clarifies His Outburst Against Reporter Who Questioned Him About The Protest By Nuns

Mohanlal, through a Facebook post, has issued a clarification about his reaction to a journalist’s question about the nuns who were staging a protest in Kochi. The journalists had come to the Cochin Port Trust at the behest of the actor who had planned to speak about the relief activities being carried out by his organisation. When one of them asked for his reaction to the protest, Mohanlal lashed out asking if he was not ashamed to ask him unnecessary questions, instead of sticking to flood-related queries.

Admitting in his post that the topic was of utmost relevance, the actor said that he was not in the right frame of mind to respond to the question then. Mohanlal, who was coordinating relief activities for the Kerala flood victims through an organisation named after his parents, said that as a human being and a son, his mind was in a different space during the interaction. He also said that the occasion didn’t warrant the question.

The actor, who has come under fire for his response, said that it wasn’t directed at a person, group or any media house. The journalist had put forth the question after turning a blind eye towards the activities being carried out by his organisation at the venue. He said this might have resulted in his reaction. “Though I don’t remember your face, I do remember your voice. I also remember my response. Hence, this clarification” said the post. He also said the incident was still fresh in his memory.

As people who would cross paths in the future too, Mohanlal said that he was bound to answer journalists. Had his response caused hurt to the journalist in question, he asked to be forgiven like an elder brother.

The actor, who is the president of AMMA (Association of Malayalam Movie Artists), had earlier come under criticism earlier for his move to reinstate accused actor Dileep into the organisation and also for voicing support to both the accused and the survivor.
