Vishal, Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth have condemned the protests against Sarkar. The actors tweeted their response to the escalating acts of violence against the film which allegedly contains defamatory scenes about late TN CM Jayalalitha.
Kamal blamed the TN Government for the protest against Sarkar. He said that such behaviour on part of the Government will ultimately derail it. “This government cannot handle criticism and ultimately, this will derail it. People who use politics as their business will be extinguished,” the actor said.

Vishal reacted to news that AR Murugadoss’ residence was visited by the Chennai police. This news was shared by Sun Pictures’ official account, and later dismissed as a rumour by a spokesperson for the Chennai Police.
Vishal wrote:
Police in Dir Murugadoss s home????? For Wat?? Hoping and really hoping that nothin unforeseen happens. Once again. Censor has cleared the film and the content is watched by public.den why all this hue and cry.

Rajinikanth, meanwhile, said that a film that has been censored must not be forced to delete scenes. Incidentally, when Vada Chennai was altered after its release due to demands of the fishing community in TN, such support was not available.
Producer SR Prabhu wrote on his social media account that these protests were free publicity for Sarkar.

Vidyu Raman said that it was time people looked at films objectively and publicly came out in support of Sarkar.
When will people start watching films as films and not take it as a personal attack?? Happy all the controversy is creating more buzz for the film ? #Sarkar #ISupportSarkar

Earlier this week, key members of the ruling party, the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), strongly criticised Sarkar for its damaging portrayal of their late party leader and former TN CM Jayalalithaa. Following this, the banners of the film were torn down and theatres showing the film were targeted by supporters of the late CM. The iconic Kasi Theatre in Chennai was targeted by irate supporters. The protest also seems to have caused traffic disruptions along the Guindy-Koyambedu road.
Earlier, a report said that 2.30 pm shows at Madurai screens – Cine Priya, Suga Priya and Mini Priya – were cancelled due to the protests happening outside the theatre. However a notice on the gates of the theater complex said that the shows were then postponed to 4 pm.
