After much delay by the CBFC, director Suseenthiran’s Angelina gets certified U/A. The film is a love story starring debut actors in the lead. It is produced by KV Shanthi, and music is by D Imman.

Director Suseenthiran spoke about the film to The New Indian Express, and said, “The mark of a good director is in identifying new talent and shaping it. Angelina will be an important film in my career.” The story is said revolve around the lives of college students, and it might be like his 2013 film Aadhalal Kaadhal Seiveer.
Suseenthiran had earlier said about his films, “In a 10-year span, I have introduced five new actors and producers. I have almost completed work on Angelina and Genius. Production work on my new film Champion, which is based on football, will start immediately.” He is experimenting with fresh themes and approaches for his upcoming films, he said.

The director’s last film was Genius, starring debutant Roshan in the lead. Suseenthiran has Champion, Kennedy Club and Vennila Kabadai Kuzhu 2 at different stages of production. Kennedy Club starring Sasikumar and Bharathiraja has been scheduled for release on Tamil New Year’s Day.
The film revolves around a women’s kabaddi team. To add life to the plot, the makers have reportedly shot live women’s kabaddi matches across the state and the country. Matches in Salem, Erode, Madurai, Kanyakumari, Coimbatore, and also Mumbai and Ahmedabad have been shooting locations.
Along with Bharathiraja and Sasikumar, the film stars Samuthirakani, Soori, Munishkanth, newcomer Meenakshi, Gayathri, Sowmya, Smirthi and Soundarya in important roles. It is produced by Thai Saravanan for Nallusamy Pictures. RB Gurudev is the cinematographer. Music is by D Imman.
It was reported in November that Chinese theatrical rights for the film was sold to a local distribution house in the country for Rs 2 crore.
