Keerthy Suresh is likely to star opposite Rajinikanth in A R Murugadoss’s upcoming movie. The movie will mark her second collaboration with the director after Sarkar.
According to reports, Murugadoss, while speaking at the audio launch of Sarkar, had said that he was impressed by Keerthy Suresh’s performance in Mahanati – the Telugu biopic on late actress Savitri. He also regretted that the role he offered her in Sarkar was a short one.
The actress had recently shared a photograph of her with Rajinikanth on the actor’s birthday.
This, along with the director’s earlier statements, sparked speculation about the actress being cast in his upcoming political thriller with Rajinikanth.
Reports emerged towards the end of last year that Sun Pictures was planning to produce a film by Murugadoss with Rajinikanth in the lead. However, they pulled out after the director’s previous release Sarkar, bankrolled by the production house, was mired in controversy before the release. Subsequently, Lyca Productions took over.
It was also said that the news will be officially confirmed after promotions for 2.0 and Petta.

A spokesperson for Rajinikanth told Silverscreen, “Nothing has been confirmed as of now. Sir has just listened to the script from AR Murugadoss and rest of the things are under discussion and not yet finalised. We have a lot of time and our main focus is on 2.0 and Petta.”
“Sometime in January, once we finalise the team, we will begin work and an official announcement will be made,” he added.
While other details are yet to be announced, the director had earlier hinted in an interview that his upcoming film might be a fantasy venture. It is also expected to be the actor’s last film before he enters politics.
Lyca had also produced Rajinikanth’s film Kaala. The production house is currently bankrolling director Shankar’s Indian 2, starring Kamal Haasan in the lead.
