According to Mid-Day, the movie is set to be remade in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam by the middle of this year. “Ronnie Screwvala’s [producer] team got several calls from producers from the South who wish to adapt the movie in their language. Ronnie has met a few of them. If all goes as planned, the films will go on floors by mid-year,” sais a source.

“The film will feature actors popular in the respective industries. The details are expected to be decided within two weeks,” the source added.

After its release on January 11, Uri emerged as the first big Hindi film hit of 2019. The movie also features Yami Gautam, Kirti Kulhari, Mohit Raina and Paresh Rawal. It surpassed the Rs.100 crore mark within 11 days of its release. Uri is also Vicky Kaushal’s first 100 crore film as the solo lead. The movie is Yami Gautham’s biggest hit in her career.

Talking about the success of the movie, the actress said in an India Today report “Very happy with the kind of response that the film has earned, and it is continuing to have a great run at the box office. I’m very grateful to the team behind the film, everyone has truly worked very hard.”

What has also helped the movie is the fact that there hasn’t been a major Hindi release in the two weeks after its release. Anupam Kher’s The Accidental Prime Minister and Emraan Hashmi’s Why Cheat India – movies that released alongside and after Uri failed make its mark at the box office.

However, the Republic Day weekend will see the releases of movies like Kangana Ranuta’s Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi and Nawazzuddin Siddiqui’s Thackeray.
