Speculations are rife that a Tamil remake of Badla is being planned with Radha Mohan as the director, and Trisha playing the role of Taapsee Pannu from the original. It was reported that Dhananjayan has bought the rights to the remake, but the producer has denied this as a rumour.
“We’ve only shown interest in the film. Nothing is final, we haven’t even bought the rights yet,” he told Silverscreen. Director Radha Mohan also confirmed this, “There are lot of things happening, we cannot give an announcement yet.”
Reports say that an update on the Tamil remake of the movie can be expected in a few weeks. There has been no word on who will replace Amitabh Bachchan in the remake. Badla released on March 8, and is still running in theatres with the worldwide collection exceeding Rs 100 crore.
Starring Taaspsee Pannu along with Amitabh in the lead, the film directed by Sujoy Ghosh, was an adaptation of the 2017 Spanish movie The Invisible Guest. The story follows an interview between a lawyer and a businesswoman who insists that she is wrongly framed for the murder of her lover.
If this remake works out as speculated, this will be Radha Mohan’s second project with Trisha after Abhiyum Naanum. He has also directed Payanam, Uppu Karuvaadu, Brindavanam, 60 Vayadhu Maaniram. His latest film was Kaatrin Mozhi, produced by Dhananjayan.

Meanwhile, Trisha is also being considered for the Tamil remake of Andhadhun, which is likely to star Ramya Krishnan in Tabu’s role, and Siddharth in the lead reprising Ayushmaan. Siddharth had earlier put out a tweet asking people if they wished to see him in the remake.
Trisha has many projects in the pipeline. Garjanai, a film inspired by Anushka Sharma’s NH10, stars her in the lead with Amit Bhargav and Vamsi Krishna in supporting roles. She also has Sathuranga Vettai 2 and Paramapadham Vilayattu. The release dates for these films are yet to be known.
