Suriya, the Tamil actor who had tested positive for Covid-19 earlier this month, has recovered and tested negative for the virus, Rajsekar Pandian, director and co-producer at Suriya’s production company- 2D Entertainment Pvt Ltd- tweeted on Friday.
Suriya, who last appeared in the 2020 Tamil drama film Soorarai Pottru, had tested positive for Covid-19 on February 7. The actor tweeted that he was stable and undergoing treatment. “Everyone should realise that life has not yet returned to normal. We can’t let fear get us down. At the same time, safety and precaution is a must,” he tweeted.
On February 11, actor Karthi, Suriya’s younger brother, tweeted that he is “back home” and will quarantine at home for a few days.
Weeks before he tested positive for Covid-19, Suriya had attended the wedding of Hari, a member of his fan club (All India Suriya Fan Club). The photos, which showed the actor standing on the dais along with the couple and their relatives, went viral on social media. This was the last public event the actor was seen at. Suriya had completed shooting for Netflix’s upcoming nine-film Tamil anthology project Navarasa in November 2020.

He is soon expected to begin shooting for his next film with director Pandiaraj tentatively titled Suriya 40. Shooting for the film was scheduled to begin in February but had to be halted after the actor tested positive for Covid-19. The film, which will be produced by Sun Pictures, will also feature actors Sathyaraj and Priyanka Arul Mohan, with music composed by D Imman. Suriya has an upcoming drama titled Vaadi Vaasal, which will be directed by Vetrimaaran marking their first collaboration. The film will be produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu, under the V Creation banner.
He also has a film with Annaatthe director Siva, which will be produced by Studio Green, and is currently awaiting the release of Navarasa in which he has acted in filmmaker Gautham Vasudev Menon’s segment.
