Actor Yami Gautam Summoned by Enforcement Directorate in Alleged Money Laundering Case

Yami Gautam, the Hindi actor, has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate in Mumbai for alleged violation of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).

According to a report by ANI, the ED has asked Gautam to appear before them in the second week of July to record her statement in connection with alleged irregularities under FEMA.

Officials informed The Hindustan Times that Gautam received Rs 1.5 crores in her private bank account which she did not disclose.

The probe in the matter will be conducted on July 7 for which her presence has been mandated.

The Vicky Donor actor was summoned before the ED once before in 2020. However, she did not visit the ED office at that time since restrictions were in place due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Yami Gautam made her debut in the Hindi film industry with the film Vicky Donor, starring alongside actor Ayushmann Khurrana. She has since worked on several films, including Hrithik Roshan‘s Kaabil and Varun Dhawan-starrer Badlapur. She recently played the lead role in Netflix‘s Ginny Weds Sunny, alongside Vikrant Massey.

Gautam married Uri director Aditya Dhar in a private ceremony held on June 4.

She also resumed the shoot of her upcoming project A Thursday. In the thriller film, the actor will be seen essaying the role of a school teacher named Naina Jaiswal. Directed by Behzad Khambata, the film is produced by Ronnie Screwvala’s RSVP Movies and Premnath Rajagopalan’s Blue Monkey Films. This marks the first project solely headlined by Gautam.

She is also a part of Pavan Kirpalani‘s Bhoot Police, along with Jacqueline Fernandez, Saif Ali Khan and Arjun Kapoor. The film is produced by Ramesh Taurani’s Tips Industries Ltd banner and Akshai Puri’s 12th Street Entertainment.
