Actors Farhan Akhtar and Shibani Dandekar tied the knot on Saturday, in an intimate wedding ceremony in Khandala. The couple exchanged vows instead of a traditional Marathi ceremony, with only a handful of their friends and family being invited.
Amongst the guest list were Meiyang Chang, Gaurav Kapoor, Samir Kochar, Monica Dogra, Ritesh Sidwani, Rhea Chakraborty, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra, Ashutosh Gowarikar, Amrita Arora, and Hrithik Roshan and his family, among others. Dhandekar chose to wear a red ensemble while taking her vows, while Akhtar donned a black suit. Several videos and photos of the guests and celebrations from the venue went viral on social media.
A video that was shared several times on social media, was the one where Roshan and Akhtar were seen dancing to the famous song Senorita, from their film Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Roshan’s mother, Pinkie, took to social media to share her experience of the wedding ceremony and wrote, “It was too special, total bliss to have witnessed a marriage ceremony that was surreal, where simplicity was the key ingredient.

Further, a source informed that the couple registered their marriage on Monday and will soon host a reception. “Keeping Covid-19 protocols in mind, the guest list was kept to a minimal crowd of 50. The couple will register the marriage with a court wedding in Mumbai this week and host a reception later in the month,” the source told Mid-Day. They also revealed that the actor-producer’s father, Javed Akhtar, had recited a poem for the newly-weds, at the ceremony.
Akhtar and Dandekar met on the sets of a television show, I Can Do That in 2015. The two made their first public appearance as a couple at the wedding reception of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in 2018. Since then, they have not shied away from expressing their love for each other via social media.
