Sana Khan, a former Bigg Boss contestant, and actress has married a religious scholar from Gujarat, Anas Sayed. Khan, who had quit the entertainment industry to “serve humanity and follow the order of her Creator”, announced the news on her Instagram profile. The announcement was met with congratulatory as well as critical posts, with some questioning her decision to turn towards spirituality.
Sharing a picture from her wedding ceremony, Khan wrote that the couple “loved each other for the sake of Allah, married each other for the sake of Allah”.

Earlier in October, Khan had announced she was quitting the industry, after discovering a “moral responsibility” to serve humanity. She wrote, “I am at an important juncture in my life. For years, I have been living the Showbiz (Film Industry) life, and during this time I have been blessed with all kinds of fame, honour, and wealth from my fans for which I am grateful to them. But, for the last few days, a thought has kept me occupied. I have been wondering, does one take birth only to earn wealth and fame for oneself? Isn’t it a moral responsibility of humans to serve or support those who are helpless or needy? Shouldn’t people think about what will happen to them in the after-life since one can die at any given time?”
Her statement comes just over a year after Dangal actor Zaira Wasim also quit acting citing similar reasons.
Khan’s announcement, meanwhile, was met with some scepticism from social media users, who compared her decision to that of another former Bigg Boss contestant, Sofia Hayat, and said that Khan’s foray into spirituality would not last long, just like Hayat’s had not.

In 2016, Sofia Hayat had become a nun and adopted the name, Gaia Sofia Mother. However, she had quit that path after only a year. Talking about the comparison between her and Khan, Hayat told SpotboyE, “I am fed up with my comparison to Sana Khan. What is wrong with some people? They think spirituality is all about what dress you wear! I am more spiritual in my nudity than fully dressed, low minded, and low vibrational people, do not understand this.”
Earlier this year, Sana Khan had a widely publicised break-up with choreographer Melvin Louis. Khan had accused Louis of cheating on her. She also accused him of sexual misconduct, including with students.
Sana Khan has acted in 14 films across five different languages and has appeared in several advertisements. Khan also appeared on Bigg Boss 6 and emerged as a second runner-up.
