Hospitalised Malayalam Actor KPAC Lalitha is Recuperating Well, Says Son

Veteran Malayalam actor KPAC Lalitha who was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a private hospital in Kochi, Kerala, and is currently undergoing treatment for liver-related issues, is now “recuperating well”, the actor’s son, Sidharth Bharathan said.

In an Instagram story, Sidharth wrote “Amma is fine and recuperating well..no need to panic..thank you all for the love, concern and prayers.”

According to The News Minute, Lalitha was admitted to the hospital in Kochi 10 days ago. She was first undergoing treatment in Thrissur and was later shifted to Kochi’s Aster Medcity hospital. Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA) Secretary Edavela Babu told TNM that the actor is “highly diabetic” and suffers from health-related issues due to it. He added that her condition was better on Monday and that doctors will decide whether to perform a liver transplant on her, based on her age and health condition.

Babu said that when her condition becomes stable, the actor will be shifted to the normal ward from the ICU.

A multiple-award-winning actor, 74-year old Lalitha has starred in hundreds of Malayalam films, in a career spanning over five decades.

She began her career as a stage actor by performing in Kerala People’s Arts Club (KPAC) and has worked in over 500 films and appeared in television serials as well. A two-time National Film Awards winner in the Supporting Actress category, Lalitha has also won four Kerala State Film Awards. Besides, she has also won Filmfare Awards South and Asianet Film Awards, among a plethora of other awards. She has also worked as a dubbing artist, and lent her voice for actors Sharada, and Nanditha Bose.

Lalitha has also acted in a handful of Tamil films, including Kaatru Veliyidai (2017), Kireedam (2007), and Ullam Ketkume (2005). She was recently seen in the critically acclaimed Malayalam family comedy-drama #Home (2021), which is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
