Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, is a suspect in a criminal battery investigation after he allegedly punched a fan on Wednesday night, according to a TMZ report.
Ye has not been arrested yet.
As per the report, the police said that Ye got into an argument that allegedly turned physical around 3 am in downtown Los Angeles. TMZ later reported that Ye erupted on the fan after asking him not to click his pictures. The rapper also reportedly complained of going through a tough time because of his divorce with reality television star Kim Kardashian. Ye and Kardashian ended their marriage in 2021.
Earlier in the evening, Ye was seen with actor and partner Julia Fox.
The case is being investigated as misdemeanour battery, a crime that carries a maximum jail sentence of 6 months, as per TMZ. A video of Ye, accompanying the report, shows the rapper yelling, “Did y’all say that or not? Did y’all say that or not?”
Ye left Los Angeles on Friday, reportedly to work on his upcoming album and focus on Coachella, the upcoming music festival that he will headline along with Harry Styles and Billie Eilish. Coachella is scheduled to take place in April.
Meanwhile, law enforcement sources told TMZ that it is too early for them to get in touch with Ye and his team.
