According to Variety, McConaughey spoke about being blackmailed into having sex at the age of 15. “I was blackmailed into having sex for the first time when I was 15. I was certain I was going to hell for the premarital sex. Today, I am merely certain that I hope that’s not the case,” McConaughey wrote.

The Dallas Buyers Club actor also went on to recount another personal experience where he was molested when he was 18 years old. He revealed that he was “molested by a man when [he] was 18 while knocked unconscious in the back of a van.”

However, the actor firmly believes that his experiences do not make him a victim. “I’ve never felt like a victim. I have a lot of proof that the world is conspiring to make me happy,” he wrote in his memoir, reported Variety.

Through Greenlights, the Hollywood star has also delved into his relationship with his parents, his wife Camilla Alves, and his personal philosophy.

McConaughey is currently working on Sing 2, the sequel for the animated musical comedy Sing. The movie is slated to be released in December 2021.
