Kim Kadarshian West, the US reality television star, filed for a divorce from rapper Kanye West, E! News reported on Friday over “irreconciliable differences”.
The Keeping Up With the Kadarshians star and West got married in 2014.
Kadarshian West has requested for a joint legal and physical custody of their four kids- North, Chicago, Psalm, and Saint.
“It’s gotten to the point where they haven’t spent time together as a married couple in months. They’ve seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She’s known for a while,” a source told E! News.
As per TMZ, “It was during the last half of 2020 when things got super rocky for Kimye … West launched his Presidential campaign on July 4 and weeks later held a bizarre campaign event in South Carolina. At one point, a sobbing Kanye told a story of a discussion he had with Kim … talking about abortion when she was pregnant with their first child.”
In July 2020, Kadarshian West had penned a post on social media, talking about West’s mental health, debunking the stigma around mental health, and urged people experiencing it first hand, to deal it with privacy and compassion.
“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand,” Kim said in part. “I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective of our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health. But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” she wrote.
Matters reportedly worsened after the couple started living separately from February, with West in Wyoming, and Kadarshian West in Calabasas with their children.
“She wants to make sure she’s making the right decision for the kids. It’s not about the marriage anymore, she’ll always care for Kanye but it’s over between them. Kim is only focused on what’s best for the kids. It’s a tough decision for her and she’s figuring it out,” E! News reported.
