Netflix Gifts The Popular Ikorodu Bois With Production Equipment

Digital streaming pioneer Netflix has surprised the Ikorodu Bois, who shot to fame with their minimalistic version of the trailer of Chris Hemsworth starrer Extraction, with expensive production equipment. The boys took to Twitter on August 12 to announce the arrival of the presents. In the video, the boys are seen screaming in joy at the presents while also thanking Netflix for the same.

They seem to have received high-tech cameras, boom microphones, tripods, voice recorders, and even an Apple iMac computer to aid them with their mini-productions.

The trailer done in June by the Nigerian teenager trio, a 15-year-old Muiz Sanni and 10-year-old brother Malik Sanni along with their 13-year-old cousin Fawas Aina, has raked in over 11.4 million views, 1 lakh shares, and 4.5 lakh likes until now. The trio had requested their followers to retweet their video until it reaches the streaming giant and Chris who eventually took notice of the same and were impressed with the work of the boys.

Chris Hemsworth quoted the video and wrote, “EPIC!”, while Netflix said, “LOVE THIS”. Apart from the two, the producers of the film, Russo Brothers, also witnessed the recreation and invited the trio to the Extraction 2 premiere.

Their 23-year-old brother, Babatunde Sanni, who manages and edits the videos, said the trailer took them over a month to make. “Some days we shoot but end up re-shooting just because we wanted to do our best. We are so happy people are getting to know us globally,” he told CNN.

The Ikorodu Bois have also recreated the trailers for Netflix’s top show Money Heist and Will Smith and Martin Lawrence’s Bad Boys for Life, and the videos of Michael Jackson’s They Don’t Care About Us, Burna Boy’s Pull Up, and DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s Rockstar amongst several others.

The Netflix original Extraction helmed by Sam Hargrave and written by Joe Russo hit the streamer on April 24, 2020. Apart from the lead character Chris, it also featured Rudhraksh Jaiswal, Randeep Hooda, Golshifteh Farahani, Pankaj Tripathi, and David Harbour in important roles.

It dealt with a hardened mercenary who is sent into Bangladesh to rescue a drug lord’s kidnapped son. Garnering mixed reviews, it went on to become the most-watched Netflix original ever. A sequel to the film is also in the works.
