Chandi Veeran is definitely a much better and improved effort from Nayyandi. But it is nowhere close to the standard of the director’s first 2 films. The film actually has a lot of similarities to Kalavani, most notable being the characterization of the villain and the climax. But the refreshing charm of the director’s debut vehicle is hardly to be seen. There is a scene that involves kids capturing their cricket matches in a smartphone to refer crucial decisions!!! We wish to see more of this sort knowing fully well what the maker is capable of. Lal who is shown as such a scheming villain has no clue that his daughter spends a lot of time with Adharva.
