Haricharan Seshadri – he of the soulful voice and untamed mane, celebrates his birthday today. He made his debut in 2004, through the blockbuster film Kaadhal. Over the years, the young singer has built up a sizeable portfolio of songs. Here, we have picked a few of our favourite Haricharan songs to celebrate the singer’s birthday:
Unakkena Iruppen – Kaadhal
A Joshua Sridhar composition, which has Haricharan belting out every single line with unrestrained enthusiasm. That said, nobody has been able to replicate all the shouting that Haricharan does in this one. All that raw talent has been tempered over the years, and has produced a fine singer.
Ethu Kari Raavilum – Bangalore Days
Haricharan’s perfect diction and pleasant vocals breathe life into this engaging song. If you number among those who don’t understand a word of Malayalam, you’ll still gradually fall in love with this one.
Mazhaiye Thoo Mazhaiye – Pattam Pole
Sandikuthirai – Kaaviya Thalaivan
Sandikuthirai is ARR’s ode to the music of MS Viswanathan and Haricharan fits beautifully in it. This wacky song has Haricharan at his most eclectic. A showcase for his talent, really.
Unmai Oru Naal Vellum – Lingaa
Haricharan is the heart and soul of this poignant song from Lingaa.

Unna Ippo Paakanum – Kayal
The Ilaiyaraaja hangover not withstanding, Unna Ippo Paakkanum is a beautifully haunting number from D Imman. Haricharan soars high in this one and takes us along for the ride.
Jalsa – Chennai 600028
A fun song from the early stages of his career. While his portion does come a good two minutes into the track, he does deliver a standout performance. Considering that he’s singing with the likes of Karthik, Tippu and Ranjith.
