In Theatres This Friday : Aavi Vs Arulnithi

Naalu Policeum Nalla Irundha Oorum makes no bones about the kind of movie it is. A ‘screwball comedy’, the film deals with (as the title so helpfully tells us) four policemen, and the trouble their arrival causes in a small town. From the movie’s photos, it looks like Remya Nambeesan plays a teacher. There’s also the newly married Arulnithi Tamilarasu, only two months after scaring people in Demonte Colony (this particular writer was more frightened of that odd hairstyle Arul sported). He has apparently put in a lot of work on the comedy scenes. That said, we hope and pray that this film does not turn out to be in the same league as Thagararu. It took us a while to get out of that particular hangover. Producer JSK seems optimistic: “This is a very different film. I’m sure that it will carve out its own identity on the box office. As a producer, all I can do is release the movie, the rest is up to the audience. I have great confidence that NPNO will do great business.”

Also in the running is Aavi Kumar. With a title like that, it’s clearly yet another pei movie. But with the kids safely ensconced in their midterms and tuitions, it’ll be interesting to see how this particular venture fares at the box office. Starring Udhaya, Kanika Tiwari, Jegan, and the ever reliable MS Bhaskar, the film’s trailer has several shots of a young woman running around looking scared and some vaguely unreal ghost sequences. If that didn’t give the plot away, then we’re sure music directors Vijay Antony and Srikanth Deva will, with their prescient background score.
