So, Koothan is certainly my comeback in Tamil cinema. It will definitely be different from the other characters I’ve played so far in my career.”

Talking about the film, the director told The News Minute“When I was working on a screenplay adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth I came across several news reports on such incidents. Even a few days back, a similar incident was reported at a village in Thiruvarur. This is not an old practice, it is happening even today. So I set aside whatever I was doing to work on this feature”

Mohanlal will be seen playing a cameo in the film.
