This week’s Tamil releases are AR Mukesh’s Evanukku Engeyo Matcham Irukku and Santosh Thyagarajan’s Seemathurai. In Telugu it is, Next Enti? and in Bollywood, Kedarnath.

Evanukku Engeyo Matcham Irukku
Directed by AR Mukesh, with actors Vimal and Ashna Zaveri in the lead, the film is a glamour-humour. Shot in London, it also stars Anandraj, Singampuli, Mansoor Ali Khan, Lokesh and Poorna in pivotal roles.
Talking about the film, director Mukesh had told India Today, “We have come out with a right mix of glamour and laughter in Evanukku Engayo Macham Irukku. We have not crossed the borders of decency. Audience will love the humour in the film.”
Seemathurai
Seemathurai, directed by Santhosh Thyagarajan, revolves around a ruffian young man who doesn’t listen to anyone in his village. The film stars Geethan of Kathai Kelu fame and Varsha Bollamma in the lead.
Produced by E. Sujaykrishnaa under the banner Bhuvan Media Works, the film also has Viji Chandrashekar, Vincent and Mahendran in supporting roles.
Director Santosh had spoke about the film to Deccan Chronicle, and said, “The film revolves around a ruffian Seemathurai, who never listens to anyone in the village. He is then struck by a cupid and his life changes upside down. I have given a realistic approach. The story of my film is based on real life incidents that took place in Pattukottai in Thanjavur district.”
Next Enti?
Next Enti is a romantic comedy directed by Kunal Kohli, starring Tamannaah, Sundeep Kishan and Navdeep in lead roles. The film is based on the Hindi film Hum Tum by the same director, starring Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukerji in lead roles.
The film is based on the many encounters of the two main characters, who, after several years and various meetings, become friends and finally fall in love. The film also stars Larissa Bonesi, Sharat Babu and Poonam Kaur in supporting roles.
Talking about the film, actor Tamannaah had told The Indian Express, “The film deals with the question of why everyone looks at women with some preconceived notion. It also talks about a woman’s right to make her own decisions. We show the challenges of the girls of the current generation through the journey of the female protagonist in this film.”
Kedarnath
Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film is said to be a potent combination of love and religion, of passion and spirituality set on a 14-kilometer pilgrimage from Gauri Kund to Kedarnath. It is a a love story set at the time of the Uttarakhand floods in 2013. Jointly produced by RSVP Movies and Guy in the Sky Pictures, the film stars Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead.
Sushant Singh Rajput plays a tourist guide who carries the old and the ailing on his back to the Kedarnath temple. Sara plays a rich girl who falls in love with him. The film also stars Jackky Bhagnani, Bidita Bag, Jaideep Ahlawat, and others, with music by Amit Trivedi and Ankit Tiwari.
Sara spoke about her debutante film to The Indian Express and said, “It is an extremely honest film that is set in a unique world. We have seen nothing like this before. Gattu sir (Abhishek) has envisioned a very different world. Also, it is a very beautiful story. Sushant has done exceptional work. Kedarnath has an innocence and purity.”
