On Sun TV’s month-old reality show Sun Naam Oruvar, Tamil film celebrities help those in need by working regular jobs for a day and raising money. Hosted by actor Vishal Krishna, the show began with actor Karthi as the first guest, followed by Keerthy Suresh, Soori, Andrea Jeremiah, Jiiva and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. A production venture of actors Nanda and Ramana, it is a remake of the Telugu show Memu Saitham which aired on Gemini TV.
The show has celebrities turn into “common folk” for a day and earn money to help the underprivileged achieve their dream.
Actor Karthi, who is also one of the producers of the show, raised money for 15-year-old Felix who lost both his hands in an accident while working at a building construction site. Karthi, who frequently visits colleges for cultural programmes, was tasked with making dosas and selling them at an institution. The actor earned about Rs 6 lakhs. Felix was recently given two prosthetic arms bought with the money.
