Filmmaker SJ Surya will star in his next film titled 174, which is based on a real-life incident. This film, to be produced by Surya, is directed by Manikandan, a former associate of director Selvaraghavan. Speaking to Silverscreen, SJ Surya said, “I really enjoyed listening to the script of 174 by Manikandan. It has a great social message with commercial elements added to it. I am playing a cop in the movie, which is based on Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure.” Section 174 of the Code of Criminal Procedure empowers the police to take action when a suicide or suspicious death occurs.
Casting for the film is underway. “The cast and crew are almost finalised. We will make an official announcement during the first week of January, and will start shooting right after,” Surya added.
SJ Surya has a role in Karthik Subbaraj’s Iraivi, which is under post-production.
