Aadar Jain, a scion of Bollywood’s Kapoor family, will be making his debut in Qaidi Band, launched by Yash Raj Films. The upcoming actor, in an interview with The Indian Express, spoke of nepotism and how it didn’t apply in his case.
“I have auditioned for a movie and I auditioned for a person called Mr Aditya Chopra, who is such a prestigious magnetic man. He runs the YRF studios, it’s been so prolific over the years, I don’t think that man would invest in someone who is not talented. I auditioned with a lot of people, and I was chosen on my own merit. I don’t think nepotism applied to me in this case. Yes, I belong to a film family, therefore people might think that I got it easy, but it was not. Mr Chopra is not my relative. He took me in his movie probably because I suit the part, and he saw that I was worthy of the script,” he says.
He further added that producers wouldn’t want to put all their money on someone whose talent they did not test. “I know people will say things, I have read comments which are very personal, and these things of course hurt me, I am human. But then what can I say, I just have to work hard on my craft, and prove why I got the opportunity in the first place,” he adds.
Last month, Aadar was officially introduced to the world through a series of tweets on how he belonged to a family of actors and was born to do this.

Needless to say, the upcoming actor was made fun of social media, something which he responded to in an interview with Firstpost.

“They did a beautiful photo shoot to launch me and Anya, and Ranbir was to introduce me. I finished the entire press conference, went back home and celebrated with my family. When I opened the papers next day, they all talked about nepotism and there was a lot of media scrutiny. It hurt me because I had worked very hard to get Qaidi Band. I auditioned for the film and never took any family favours. I could have joined my father’s business but I had a genuine interest in acting. I just hope people see that,” he said.
Aadar is the fifth Kapoor of his generation to turn to acting, following the path of his cousins Karisma, Kareena and Ranbir Kapoor, and his elder brother Armaan Jain, who made his debut in 2014’s Lekar Hum Deewana Dil.
Qaidi Band focuses on seven innocent under-trials and their journey towards freedom. The female lead is played by newcomer Anya Singh. The film is all set to release on August 25.
