Aamir Khan is all set to start work on a 7-part web series based on Mahabharata, reports Pinkvilla. The actor, who is set to play the role of Krishna, will be flying to America to pen the script.
Apart from the actor, the crew will comprise of newcomers mostly. The seven episodes will be helmed by seven different directors.
Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan which released over the Diwali weekend is currently playing in theatres. The movie, that opened on November 6, has shattered many box office records. Raking in close to 52 crores on the day of its release, it became the biggest opening for an Indian movie.
Banking on the immense goodwill enjoyed by Aamir Khan among the audiences, opening day tickets were charged at higher prices than normal. Aamir Khan had even put out a ‘Thank You’ note on the eve of the release expressing his gratitude to the entire cast and crew of the movie.
Featuring Khan and Amitabh Bachchan together for the first time, the movie has been directed by Vijay Krishna Acharya who had previously directed Khan in Dhoom 3. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the movie also stars Katrina Kaif and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
Despite the tremendous opening the movie has had, the second-day collections showed a steep decline courtesy audiences’ word of mouth and the bad reviews that have been pouring in. According to a Hindustan Times report, the three-day collections of the movie now stood behind Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju and Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai.
Made on a budget of close to Rs.300 crores, the movie is one of the most expensive Indian movies ever made.
