Aamir Khan Wants Tax Free Status For ‘Dangal’

Aamir Khan is hoping to get a tax exemption for his upcoming film Dangal. The actor told Indian Express that it is ‘essential’ for the film to be seen and heard. The actor said that the tax free status would make that happen. “I believe it’s a film which has the parameters of getting a tax exemption. So I think it falls under that category. But that’s not for me to decide. Ultimately, it is for the state governments in each state to decide that. But we will be applying for tax exemption and we are going to try for it before the release. But it’s a process, it may happen or it may not happen. I can’t predict how long will it take.”

Aamir is hopeful that his film will get a clean U from the CBFC.“I think it’s a universal film and our film is a family film. It’s about children and for them. So it’s a film for families. And according to us, it will be a U film.”

The team has also taken effective anti-piracy measures to protect the film.“We will try our level best to curb it. So this time too we will try to tackle it.”

Dangal is a bio-pic on the life of Mahavir Singh Phogat and his daughters, Geetha and Babita, all award-winning wrestlers. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film is all set to release on December 23, ahead of the Christmas holidays.
