A statement was shared on Tuesday by Aamir Khan Productions, which read, “This is to announce that our film, Laal Singh Chaddha, will not be releasing on April 14 as planned. This is because we are unable to complete the film in time. The film will now be releasing on August 11, 2022 in theatres worldwide.”

The makers of Laal Singh Chaddha also expressed their gratitude to the team of PrabhasAdipurush for moving their film from August 11, in order to give the Khan-starrer a solo release. “We would like to thank Mr Bhushan Kumar, T Series, Om Raut, and the entire team of Adipurush from the bottom of our hearts. We would like to thank them for being so helpful and understanding, and for shifting the release date of their much-awaited, Adipurush, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan, so that Laal Singh Chaddha can come on August 11,” their statement further said.

Earlier, Laal Singh Chaddha was set to clash at the box-office with Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2.

However, now that the Khan-starrer has been pushed to August, Shahid Kapoor’s Jersey has decided to fill up the April 14 spot. The Kapoor-starrer was previously slated for release last December, but was postponed in light of the Covid-19 pandemic. The actor took to Twitter on Tuesday and wrote, “So, so happy to announce that our beloved film Jersey will be releasing worldwide in theatres on April 14, 2022. See you in the theatres.”

Jersey is a remake of the 2019 Telugu sports film of the same name, which featured Nani in the lead. It is helmed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also directed the Telugu original. The film also stars Shahid Kapoor’s father, veteran actor Pankaj Kapur, in a pivotal role.
