Satya Dev, the Telugu actor, announced his 25th film on the occasion of his birthday on Sunday. The film, tentatively referred to as Satya Dev 25, is set to be written and directed by debutant filmmaker VV Gopala Krishna, and will be presented by filmmaker Koratala Siva.
It will be produced by Krishna Kommalapati.
While the rest of the cast members have not been revealed yet, the team announced that Kaala Bhairavaa and Naveen Nooli will be handling the music and editing of the film, respectively.
Speaking to Silverscreen India about the film, a source close to the production, on condition of anonymity, said, “The film is a crime and personal revenge drama. It is set in Vijayawada, which is known for its cultural history, similar to Madurai in Tamil Nadu. The story revolves around the culture of the place and the crime scene prevailing there. However, it is not a gangster film.”
The source further said the film will go back and forth in time, but clarified that it is not a period drama.

“The director wrote the script in 2020 and approached the producer in early 2021 to narrate the story. After this, he approached Satya Dev to do the lead role,” said the source, adding that the team is set to start the first schedule of shooting in the first or second week of August in Hyderabad.
When asked about the rest of the cast, the source said the casting process is still ongoing for the heroine, villain, and supporting roles. “Auditions are being held and there should be clarity by the end of the month. However, I can reveal that the team is planning to cast actors with a theatre background, particularly those based out of Vijayawada for authenticity. The team is therefore conducting auditions in Vijayawada as well.”
