In an interview with Vikatan, he said, “Not all films by an actor becomes a hit. Very few stay in people’s hearts. Chinna Thambi and Agni Natchathiram were such films for my father. I received good response for my debut film Kumki. All I wanted was to maintain and stabilize the same name through my career,” he said.

“So I choose different genre and themes. I decided not to repeat things in films. Both success and failures are there in my career… But unlike ten years back when it was easy to release a film, actors suffer now because of social media controversies for all films,” he said.

Thuppakki Munai is not like other cop thrillers: “The romance with Hansika happens simultaneously with my encounters, the visualisation is different. There are no unnecessary songs or glamorous scenes. And we can say that Hansika hasn’t worked on a film like this in her career.”

Hansika Motwani stars opposite Vikram Prabhu who plays an encounter specialist in Thuppaki Munai. The film’s tagline reads ‘Each bullet has a story’, and the producer of the film, Kalaipuli S Thanu had earlier said this best described the film. “The bullets fired from Vikram Prabhu’s gun have a purpose,” he said.

Produced by Thanu’s V Creations, the thriller also stars Velu Ramamoorthy and MS Bhaskar in important roles. Rasamathi is the cinematographer of this film. LV Muthu Ganesh has composed the songs, Pulamaipithan and Pa Vijay have written the lyrics.
