Actors Varun Dhawan and Neetu Kapoor Test Positive for Covid-19

Actors Varun Dhawan and Neetu Kapoor along with director Raj Mehta tested positive for Covid-19 on Friday,  Mumbai Mirror reported. The three were in Chandigarh along with Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor and Prajakta Koli shooting for upcoming Hindi film Jug Jugg Jeeyo.

Actor Varun Dhawan took to social media on Monday to announce the same.

The film’s shooting has been halted for the time being.

“All three are showing only mild symptoms and are currently isolated in Chandigarh. Anil and Kiara’s reports are negative; he returned to Mumbai last evening, while she flies back today,” a source told Mumbai Mirror, assuring that the cast and crew will follow all safety protocols.

Addressing the rumours around his health, Anil Kapoor clarified on social media that he had tested negative. There has been no official statement fom the makers of the film.

Mehta posted a story on Instagram which read, “Usually a positive person but absolutely ‘negative’ for now! Thanks!”

The cast and crew flew to Chandigarh on November 12 and began with the shooting three days later. Neetu Kapoor had posted a picture on social media on that day and announced that all the actors had been tested for Covid-19.

The Chandigarh schedule was supposed to last 40 days, till December 24, and is now halted for 10 to 14 days.

Bankrolled by Dharma Productions, Jug Jugg Jeeyo revolves around two married couples across two generations, Dhawan and Advani, and Anil Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor.

This will be Mehta’s second directorial venture after the 2019 film Good Newwz. It will also mark Neetu Kapoor’s comeback to films after eight years. Her last film was Besharam in 2012. Earlier this year, she lost her husband and veteran actor Rishi Kapoor to cancer.

The film will also be Youtuber Prajakta Koli’s first big film after her recent Netflix original film Mismatched.

Recently, actor Sunny Deol announced on social media that he had tested positive for Covid-19 and is currently isolating in Manali.
