Actress Madhubala (Madhoo) of Roja fame has been roped in for Tamil film Agni Dev, staring Bobby Simha. Directed by Chennaiyil Oru Naal 2 fame John Paul Raj and Sham Surya, the film is said to be a crime drama based on author Rajesh Kumar’s novel. An earlier film, the medical crime thriller Kuttram 23, was also based on his novel.
The film has been bankrolled by Seantoa Studio in association with Jai Film Productions. In an official statement, the team said, “We take immense pleasure in welcoming actress Madhubala. Our entire “Agni Dev” crew is happy and excited to work with her.”

According to a report in Tollywood.Net, Madhoo plays the antagonist in the movie, which also stars comedian Sathish in a vital role.

If reports of her playing the antagonist are true, this will probably be the first time Madhoo is seen in such a role. After making a comeback of sorts to Tamil with Balaji Mohan’s Vaayai Moodi Pesavum. Madhoo has featured in a few Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada films. The actress is also part of director Priyadarshini’s Mohanlal-starrer Marakkar – Arabikkadalinte Simham. The film is about Kunjali Marakkar, a 16th Century naval chief.
The actress, who is related to actress-director-dancer Hema Malini, has many hits as heroine to her credit, including the Hindi Phool Aur Kaante, and Mani Ratnam’s Roja and Shankar’s Gentleman in Tamil.
