A Thane Sessions Court has declared actress Mamta Kulkarni, and husband Vicky Goswami as ‘absconding accused’ in a Rs 2500 Crore drug haul case. The court is likely to attach two properties of Kulkarni located in Andheri and will issue Red Corner Notice (RCN) against the duo in the next hearing.
This is related to the raid of the Solapur Unit of Avin Lifesciences by the Thane crime branch on April 18, 2016. During the course of the raid, ephedrine worth Rs 2500 Crore was confiscated from the premises. Ephedrine is used to make the party drug – Metamphetamine.
Shshir Hiray, the Special Public Prosecutor of the case, said:

“We have enough evidence to prove that Kulkarni and her husband Goswami were directly involved in producing and smuggling drugs. Moreover the police have also taken the statements of neighbours in Andheri which is the last known address of Kulkarni. The court noticed that the accused are proclaimed offenders and declared them an absconding accused in the case,” said Hiray.
The police have identified two properties of Mamta Kulkarni in Oshiwara area of Andheri, which are likely to be attached by the court. “We are putting forward the case in front of the court to issue red corner notice against the duo and permission to attach their properties in Andheri. We are yet to verify if Vicky has properties in Gujarat,” said Hiray.
Kulkarni has reportedly fled her Kenyan home.
