Actress Parvathy of Mariyan fame will soon debut as a director. Parvathy has confirmed this on the popular Malayalam publication Mathrubhumi, where she also said that the project wasn’t finalized yet: “It’s too early to reveal the schedule. The actors also haven’t been confirmed yet.”
Although it’s common to see actors turn directors in the Indian film industries, there are very few actresses who have sustained as directors. But Mollywood has been relatively more welcoming of female directors. Suhasini Maniratnam, Revathi, Geethu Mohandas are some of the actresses who have become successful directors.

Parvathy will continue to act in other projects, in the meanwhile. She will be next seen in a movie directed by film editor Mahesh Narayanan in which Fahad Fazil and Kunchacko Boban play the lead roles. Parvathy is also set to team up with actor Pritviraj again after the success of Ennu Ninte Moideen. A romantic musical titled My Story, the movie will be directed by debutant director Dinakar. My Story is expected to start shooting in October after Prithviraj finishes shooting for his Ezra and Tiyaan. The film has music by Shaan Rahman and will have cinematographer R Rathnavelu of Enthiran fame.
