Actress Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who celebrates her birthday today, will be seen in the much talked about Vijay-AR Murugadoss project that is currently under production. Sun Pictures, which is bankrolling the film, confirmed the actress’s inclusion in a tweet:

While not much is known about the kind of character that Varalaxmi will be essaying, it is being speculated that she may don the role of villain. Thalapathy 62, said to be a thriller, features Vijay and Keerthy Suresh in the lead, with AR Rahman composing music and Girish Gangadharan handling the camera. The team had recently completed filming action sequences in Kolkata, and a few scenes at Chennai’s Madha Medical College.
Apart from Thalapathy 62, Varalaxmi is working on seven other projects including Mr Chandramouli, Echcharikkai Idhu Manidhargal Nadamadum Idam and Sandakozhi 2.

AR Murugadoss had earlier worked with Vijay on Thuppakki and Kaththi while Keerthy Suresh stars alongside Vijay for the second time in this film after the 2017 Bairavaa. Her other films include the actress Savitri biopic Mahanati in which she shares screen-space with Dulquer Salmaan, director Hari’s Saamy Square, and director Lingusamy’s Sandakozi 2 with Vishal.
AR Murugadoss’s last directorial, Spyder (2017), a bilingual starring Mahesh Babu, SJ Surya and Rakul Preet Singh, received mixed reviews from the audience and critics.
Thalapathy 62 is scheduled for release around Deepavali 2018.
