If Madhavan wooed us as the boy-next-door in Mani Ratnam’s Alaipayuthey, one cannot ignore the rough and tough college boy ‘Maddy’ in Gautham Menon’s Rehna Hai Here Dil Mein. Also starring Saif Ali Khan and Did Mirza, the film was a remake of the Tamil blockbuster Minnale, which is remembered even today for its cult music by Harris Jayaraj.
That said, according to a report from The Times of India, Madhavan and Saif Ali Khan are all set to re-create the RHTDM magic. And this time, its not for a romantic saga, but for a historical. The film will be produced by Anand L Rai, while Navdeep Singh of NH10, Phillauri, and Manorama Six Feet Under fame will direct the period drama.

Mukkabaaz actress Zoya Hussain and Deepak Dobriyal of Tanu Weds Manu and Omkara fame, have also been roped in for the film.
In order to give the film a period setting, it will be shot across Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The report also adds that Madhavan and Saif will be trained for sword fighting and horse-riding, in order to get to the skin of the character.
Although the title of the film is yet to be finalized, the final makeup trials are already done and shooting for the film will commence soon.
