Dhanshika’s last big Tamil film was Kabali in 2016, in which she played Rajini’s daughter Yogi.
She had acted in nine films until then, including Aravaan in 2012, and Paradesi in 2013. But in the year after Kabali, she worked on six films including Uru, Solo, Vizhithiru. She has mostly played action-based roles, except in films like Enga Amma Rani where she is a mother, and in Kaalakkoothu, a Madurai-based college girl.

In an interview with TNIE, Dhanishka said she loves action sequences, and works only in films that have women in important roles. She said, “Right from Peranmai, I was keen on giving importance to women-centric roles. I prefer characters that are strong and independent. Even in Aravaan, I play a character who stands by her decision even though her entire clan is against it. In Paradesi too, I love my character.”
She believes her role in Kabali was a game changer. In the film, Yogitha was a contract killer hired to kill Kabali by the rival Gang 43 in Kuala Lumpur. But she instead kills the men in the gang and reveals to Kabali that she is his daughter. She takes the story forward in the film.
In Yogi Da, she reprises this role. Other details are yet to be revealed.
