Aishwarya Lekshmi’s Kumari To Begin Shooting From March 2021

Kumari, the Malayalam film starring Aishwarya Lekshmi, will commence shooting from March 2021. The film is being presented under the Prithviraj Productions banner.

The film’s producers announced the news on Friday. The first-look poster of the film had been released on November 25.

Kumari will be presented by Supriya Menon, under the Prithviraj Productions banner. Menon, a former journalist and film producer, is married to actor Prithviraj Sukumaran.

Kumari will be directed by Nirmal Sahadev, who has also written the script. This is Sahadev’s second film, after the 2018 Malayalam action thriller film Ranam, starring Prithviraj. Giju John, Nirmal Sahadev, Jakes Bejoy, Sreejith Sarang under the banner of The Fresh Lime Sodas will produce the film.

On November 25, the motion poster of the film, depicting mythical elements and featuring Aishwarya Lekhsmi in the titular role, was released. The rest of the cast members are yet to be announced.

According to a The Times of India report, the film is touted to be a mythological horror and is set to be shot in northern Kerala. Aishwarya Lekhsmi had said on social media that the story, a tale that will take audiences back to their earliest memories of storytelling, gave her sleepless nights.

Speaking to ToI, director Nirmal Sahadev said, “I guess your childhood experiences mould you and I am making a return to my roots. This film is reminiscent of the stories that my mother and grandmother used to tell me. The motion poster reveals the world and soundscape that we are going to present, centred around our ancient myths and legends.”
