The Telugu film has collected Rs 105.8 crore gross at the worldwide box office as of Sunday (its 11th day), Anupam Reddy, secretary of the Telangana State Film Chamber of Commerce, told Silverscreen India.

He further added that the action-drama had made its producer a total of Rs 61.97 crore, with the share from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh being Rs 17.47 crore and Rs 35.43 crore, respectively. The film has collected about Rs 4.92 crore overseas.

Earlier on Sunday, the makers of Akhanda announced that the film had touched the 100-crore mark, grossing Rs 102 crores in just 10 days.

Written and directed by filmmaker Boyapati Srinu, Akhanda also features actors Pragya Jaiswal, Jagapathi Babu, Srikanth, and Poorna, among others. The film backed by Miryala Ravinder Reddy under Dwaraka Creations has music scored by composer S Thaman.

Although it opened to mixed reviews, Akhanda had the best opening-day collections in the career of Balakrishna, who has appeared in over 100 films so far. The film collected Rs 15.35-15.40 crore (gross) in the two Telugu states on its first day and recorded about 70-80% occupancy in theatres across both states.

Speaking to Silverscreen India, Reddy, who is also the owner of Hyderabad’s Sudha Theatres, said, “Now, the occupancy for the film is about 30-35% during the week and about 50-60% in the weekend. Given it’s been over 10 days since its release, the film is still doing well.” He also opined that the audiences turning up in such good numbers augurs well for the theatre business, given the Telugu industry has a series of big-budget films such as RRR, PushpaRadhe Shyam, and others coming up in the following weeks.

It is to be noted that Akhanda is the first of the big star-studded Telugu films to release this holiday season. While Pushpa and Shyam Singha Roy will hit theatres in December, Bheemla Nayak, RRR, and Radhe Shyam are expected to release in January.
